Understanding your insurance benefits

For most private insurance plans, you will end up owing something out-of-pocket for sessions. Call your insurance company or visit your member portal to look up your benefits for outpatient mental health office visits. If you need to meet your deductible first, this means you will pay the full amount out-of-pocket for each session until you hit your deductible, then most plans will cover most or all of the session cost after that point. If you have a co-pay or coinsurance amount “from day one,” that means you will owe a small amount per session (typically around $20 - $40) without needing to meet your deductible first.

Make sure I am In Network with your correct plan. Ask your insurance company to verify that Shane Hoerber, LCPC and/or Yellow Pine Counseling is on their In Network list.

If you are using Medicaid, you should not owe anything out of pocket for sessions. It is still crucial for you to login to your DPHHS portal to make sure your Medicaid benefits are active. If your benefits have lapsed, you may be responsible for the full session cost.
